HUNGER MINISTRYDuring the COVID-19 crisis (late March-present) we are providing Grab and Go Meals along with fresh produce and non-perishable pantry items in place of our in-person Community Soup Kitchen. Pick-up is from our parking lot at 5:30-6:30 pm on Tuesday evenings. No zip code restrictions apply and there is no need to register in advance.
Soup Kitchen: Tuesdays 5:30PM to 6:30PM Participants: All are welcome Years Active: 2005-Present Description: The weekly, year-round soup kitchen offers a complete meal to guests from many different walks of life. About 50 people are served each week—more than half are children and the rest are adults, seniors, and families. Although some guests are homeless, many are the working poor from the surrounding communities. The goal of the program is to live out the Gospel message of serving the hungry and the homeless. The hope is that one day a soup kitchen will not be needed, and all can meet together for faith, friendship, and fellowship. Leadership: Martha Minnich, a St. Eulalia parishioner, coordinates the effort and about a dozen parishioners are regular volunteers. Parishioners and parish groups, as well as community organizations and other churches donate the food. |
